See the Science Reports, Videos and Photos from the HMP-2008 Field Season!

Go here to view the photos for each day (July 13 - Aug 16) that I was at the HMP Research Station. Here is a short version of the Photo Sets URL to memorize! tinyurl.com/hmp2008 Lots of video science reports have gone up as well, and there will be more to come! You can view them all in the HMP-2008: Science Reports and Live Events playlist of youtube.com/HMPResearchStation.

All of the above, including daily status reports, is posted at MarsOnEarth.org You can subscribe to the HMP Twitter account to receive microblogs on your cell phone whenever MarsOnEarth.org is updated. See http://twitter.com/HMP.

The last of the HMP 2008 participants have flown out of the Haughton-Mars Project Research Station on Devon Island and headed home. It's been the longest and best HMP field season ever with an incredible amount of research conducted in a short time. I became increasingly busy with status updates, science reports and photos, as well as taking part in some of the research myself, so it was difficult to keep mars-frontier.org/blog updated. It was a good experiment for next year. I will be well aware of what I am in for work-wise!

Taking part in the Haughton-Mars Project this season was an incredible experience. I personally learned a lot while observing and interviewing the scientists, who did many different types of research related to human exploration of the Moon and Mars. Every few nights someone gave a powerpoint presentation in the mess tent, some of which I wrote science reports on, such as (scroll down) Life to the Moon and Mars: Analogs for Space and Astrobiology (UF) and Traverse Planning Software by Nick Wilkinson, Mars Institute, HMP Project Manager. These are in the July archives of MarsOnEarth.org.

Please continue to post comments and questions, and don't forget to post a question about Mars on this site too! We will answer it within two weeks. Please include your email address with the question so that we can let you know when it is answered. This will be automated at some point in the future.
