I spotted Sam Burbank on the airplane. He's the official emergency exit guy.

Goodbye Ottawa!
Interesting cloud formations near Iqaluit.
Landing in Iqaluit!
Beautiful. No trees! I love desolate landscapes.
The Inuit airport looks like it was built to withstand their intense winter storms.
This is Rosetta and some of her crew.
Devon Island is the boomerang shaped island to the upper right of Resolute. We're still in Iqaluit.
Sled Dogs. I counted 40 of them!
I believe this is the official Nunavut flower called the saxofrage. I'll have to double check this..
Nope. Someone now tells me this is NOT the official Nunavut flower, saxofrage. I believe these are called Aupartuapik. There are lots of bright patches of this on the otherwise desolate-looking ground of Iqaluit.
The dogs started howling uncontrollably when a lady and a small girl (on her shoulders) came to feed them.
Addy and his colleague from Hamilton Sunstrand.
Our 727 with the cargo up front. It sure looks bigger on the outside than in does on the inside!
And we entered through the tail end. She's yelling at me to stop taking pictures of the plane. I'm sorry! I'll erase them!
This is my new summer home! Actually, someone from Iqaluit tells me that this is an example of what someone here has to do to live when they are evicted from their home if they can't pay the bills.
Low low tide.
We suppose these may be ice fishing shacks that they fish from out on the ice.
Oh darn...it's not the kind of bar we were hoping it would be. There was a small store next door called somethingorother Brew, but it was referring to "brewed" coffee.
Rocks and more rocks!
Sam Burbank is checking out this strange looking building.
It turns out to be a high school.
This is a recuring symbol in the area. This human shape formed from rocks is called an Inukshuk and is on the Nunavut flag.
I just found out that "Kitty Doe" was put to sleep. Awwwww, boo hoo. Before leaving on a two year round trip to Mars, one would have to mentally prepare for the possibility of an unexpected tragedy happening on Earth during that time. Oh, darn.
Sunset in Iqaluit. Sunrise will happen in a couple of hours.
This shot was blurry because I was being eaten alive by a cloud of mosquitos.
The bay of Iqaluit.
The futuristic-looking white building on the left is also a school. The schools, like the airport, are built to withstand harsh weather.
